ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS

The head instructor of Shorinkan Family Karate is Sensei Paul Pearson, an internationally certified Black Belt in Shorin-Ryu Shorinkan Karate and Kobudo.  Sensei Pearson trains directly under and is awarded ranking by Kyoshi Nabil Noujaim of El Centro, CA and his immediate instructor Renshi David Rogers of Paso Robles, CA.

Sensei Pearson married his wife Michelle in 1989.
Their family moved to Canon City, CO in the spring of 2006 with plans to open a Karate Dojo.  They have four children that they homeschool and all are involved in Karate.  The youngest is in the Lil' Dragons program.  Sensei Pearson has also been in the construction industry for over 19 years specializing in finish carpentry.  Twelve of those years he has operated his own business as a general building contractor.

“Thank you for your interest in Shorinkan Family Karate.  We provide a wonderful family oriented atmosphere in which to train.  Parents and children attend class together.  Besides the obvious physical benefits that Karate brings, one of the best things you will discover about Karate is the character it builds in the individual.  Everyone will personally grow in self confidence, self-respect, respect for others, discipline and genuine humility.  This character building applies for all ages.  We strive to help you with your personal growth and to achieve your goals.  I’m looking forward to seeing you in class.”

"I feel privileged and excited about the opportunity to serve the Canon City community with Shorinkan Family Karate.  Karate has been a wonderful experience for our entire family.  As long as I can remember, my husband has wanted to study martial arts.  He started training with our two oldest sons and enjoyed it immensely.  I watched from the sidelines never thinking I would be involved.  Finally I decided the exercise would be good for me and self-defense would be advantageous to know.  I started with five other wonderful ladies who had watched their husbands, children or siblings train for years.  It was quite the surprise to our Sensei David Rogers to see all six of us lined up for class.  Needless to say, I was hooked!  It has been a tremendous blessing to me to have an activity in which to participate with my family.  Being part of the family atmosphere of the Paso Robles Dojo was the inspiration to emulate that kind of wholesome atmosphere here in Canon City.  By studying Karate I have gained strength, confidence and personal character growth.  I know Shorin-Ryu Shorinkan Karate will do the same and much more for you and your family."
