Lil'
Dragons is a fantastic pre-karate program aimed at 3-7 year olds which
emphasizes coordination, biomechanics and life skills. The class
works to develop a foundation for each student to build upon as they
grow in karate skills AND in all areas of life. Our Lil' Dragons
program does not just train physically but also mentally, socially and
emotionally. It is so important for children to exercise when
they are young to develop healthy habits for the rest of their lives.
We work on the following areas and much more:
Exercise and Stretching - Karate skills - Self Defence
Stranger Awareness
Manners - Kindness - Sharing - Motor Skills - Balance
Following Directions - Focus and Listening Skills - Safety
Taking care of our bodies -
Doing our best with all our heart!

Classes
are comprised of age appropriate exercises and stretches, beginning
karate drills such as practicing blocks, kicks and stances, beginning
karate katas, fun learning games and stories with discussion about life
skills. We work hard to develop a sense of belonging to a team.
We all cheer for each other to do well.
Lil' Dragons is a great program!
Your children will grow in every area of their lives.
We look forward to seeing your children in class!
Every day we practice the Lil' Dragon creed -
"I'm a Lil' Dragon, oh so strong,
learning each day right from wrong.
In this class I know I'll find,
honesty for my heart and knowledge for my mind.
My uniform colors, white, purple, green,
shows I belong to an awesome team."

Sensei Michelle Pearson, the wife of the head instructor of Shorinkan Family Karate Sensei Paul Pearson, heads up the Lil' Dragons Program.
"I had the privilege of working in a Lil' Dragons Program under Sensei Michelle Rogers, the wife of my immediate instructor Sensei David Rogers in
Paso Robles, CA. She brought tremendous enthusiasm to the Lil'
Dragons and a great love for the kids. I want to thank her for
her training, support and encouragement. I hope our Lil' Dragons
Program will be just as successful!"
- Sensei Michelle Pearson

The
childhood obesity epidemic is getting worse. The Journal of the
American Medical Association finds that one in three children is
overweight. They develop a much higher risk of developing
diabetes and heart disease. Physicians agree that parents
underestimate the threat that obesity brings to children. With
physical education classes cut out of many schools and children
obsessed with computer and TV games, children are seriously threatened
with the possibility of obesity. The answer is exercise and
healthy eating habits.
More
and more children are diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. Doctors
encourage parents to sign their children up for a sport or recreation
class. They also note that some children with ADD/ADHD respond
well to martial arts or other non-team sports. Such activities impose
structure on your child's time and provide an outlet for a high energy
level.
WE BELIEVE LIL' DRAGONS CAN GIVE TREMENDOUS BENEFITS TO YOUR CHILDREN!
Besides all that - it is a lot of fun!!!
